Empowering + elevating women
From Japan to New Zealand ~ Adashiko was founded by + today continues to be owned, operated + run by women.
It’s a fact we’re oh-so-proud of. Especially as we lean into International Women’s Day tomorrow where the theme is to inspire inclusion + invest in women.
Because when women rise, we all rise. As humanitarian advocate Professor M.S. Rao, Ph.D said, “Can you imagine what the world would be like if women who constitute almost half of the global population had access to education + opportunities + were allowed to contribute their best? We would achieve prosperity globally in all spheres.”
Here at Adashiko HQ our team is made up exclusively of women.
From once running the business solo + slowly in Managing Director, Luci Firth’s home garage to today employing a team of wonderful women + operating from a combined office/warehouse that services over 180 stockists across New Zealand, Australia + America ~ Adashiko’s substantial + sustainable growth over, almost, 11 years has been at the hands + hearts of women.
We also work alongside local female-founded businesses across digital marketing + design. Why? Quite simply, because Luci loves investing in women ~ “they’re heart-led, hard-working, gentle but fierce, inspiring, creative + dedicated to empowering + elevating the women around them.”
And that’s exactly what Adashiko is about ~ empowering + elevating women.
On a business note, we’d love to no longer be having conversations around inclusion + closing the gender gap ~ but while those conversations still need to be had, we want to be the change. Luci invests in women because it creates impact ~ economically, socially + personally. Adashiko is flexible with personal + family commitments, children + sickness. We invest in initiatives that support the minds + bodies of our team ~ like our quarterly health + wellbeing workshops. We offer a support system for anyone who needs it ~ because when we look after our team, we invest in the future of Adashiko.
As for our customers, while our loyal lovers of Adashiko are made up of all genders ~ women do make up the majority. Investing in their wellness is a privilege we don’t take lightly. Because when we invest in the wellness of women, we invest in the wellness of the community. We hear this in a lot of our reviews ~ women who feel good from within, confident + who create daily rituals + life habits that benefit their health + happiness are women who inspire change in those around them. Recognising the importance of self-care + knowing our collagen powders + collagen skincare collection play a role in uplifting, inspiring + empowering women is an indescribable feeling.
This USAID infographic sums it up well…
“A woman multiples the impact of an investment made in her future by extending benefits to the world around her, creating a better life for her family + building a strong community.”
That’s the world we want to live in. We’re committed to doing what we can to create it.
